Upcoming BS-VI compliant Honda Activa 6G may look like this

Honda Activa is India’s largest selling scooter and is extremely popular in the market. The current version of the Activa was launched at the 2018 Auto Expo and it is known as Activa 5G. Honda has already started testing the all-new Activa that is expected to be launched next year before the BS-VI emission norms come into effect. Here is a rendered image by IAB made after taking cues from the spy pictures of the test mule of the scooter.

The Activa has come a long way since it was first introduced in the Indian market but there are a lot of features missing from the scooter in its present form that is offered by the competitors. Since the all-new Activa 6G is expected to be an all-new scooter, we can expect it to get some new features that will give it an edge. The new Activa 6G is expected to go a new telescopic front suspension, which will replace the ageing spring-loaded hydraulic suspension set-up that is available with the current model.

The overall design of the upcoming Activa 6G is not expected to change drastically but it will receive a few changes that will make it look fresh in the market. The heavily camouflaged test mule of the Activa 6G indicated that it will get chrome garnish on the body that will add a premium look to it.

At the front, long elongated turn indicators will be placed on the apron on the scooter while the headlamp will retain its position on the handlebar. The body is not expected to receive many changes and it will continue to offer the same good old design with a few updates. The higher-end variants of the Activa are expected to get the alloy wheels and disc brake set-up while the more affordable options will continue to offer the same steel rims and drum brakes.

Honda is also expected to offer an all-new instrument console. While it will not be a full LCD unit, it will be very different and stylish looking when compared to the current version of the scooter. We can expect it to get a digital-analogue instrument console. The new feature list will also include an engine kill switch, which was seen on the test mule of the scooter. Other regular features like under seat storage, USB charging, combi-brake system and more will remain to be on offer of the new scooter.

Since the Activa 6G will be launched around the BS-VI emission norm implementation in India, it is quite possible that we may get to see a fuel injected engine. It will also cause the price of the scooter to rise by a bit. Honda may also develop and offer the start-stop system that automatically shuts off the scooter during idling. However, it cannot be confirmed at the moment.
